SHINE assists individuals with disabilities to understand their Medicare and MassHealth benefits, other health insurance options, and to access accurate, unbiased and up-to-date information about their health care options.

Health Care For All helps individuals enroll in public programs, get help paying for health insurance, and answer questions about private insurance.

 


 

Social Security & Work Counseling

BenePlan helps people who receive federal benefits such as SSI or SSDI understand how working and earning or increasing wages impacts their public benefits.

Project IMPACT provides individualized benefits counseling to Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission (MRC) clients, others who receive SSI or SSDI, family members, schools, employment provider agencies, and state agencies throughout Massachusetts

Going to Work Booklet is a guide to social security benefits and employment for young people with disabilities.

 


 

Legal Services

Disability Law Center is a nonprofit organization that provides protection and advocacy for people with disabilities in Massachusetts.

Mass Legal Help is a website made up of a variety of resources about your legal rights, compiled by Massachusetts’ legal aid programs.

Massachusetts Legal Assistance Corporation funds the Disability Benefits Project and Medicare Advocacy Project. You can learn more about these projects on this website, as well as find lists of legal service programs that support each project.

 


 

Financial Literacy

Calculator.org  has info on Personal Finance Guide for People with Disabilities

“Who Wants to be Financially Responsible?” is a teen oriented financial education program that focuses on credit cards, cash management, debt management, budgeting, identity theft, investing, and credit scores, in a fun game show format.

Mass Resources – Financial Education provides information and links to resources around financial literacy in Massachusetts, including financial literacy courses.

Hands On Banking offers free online courses and interactive tools on financial literacy to all age groups including courses geared specifically towards young adults.

Money Smart is a comprehensive financial education curriculum designed to help people improve their financial skills. Money Smart offers free online courses as well as a variety of other options for taking their courses.
