Tax Tips

Filing your taxes is just as important as reporting to Social Security, maintaining good credit, and getting banked. You always want to be in good standing with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) because they almost always find out about any money you make. So, stay on the right track with them, and file your taxes every year!

  • Welcome to MyFreeTaxes. Visit us in January to start filing your taxes for free.
  • You may qualify for free assistance with filing your taxes, and getting help may alleviate lots of stress especially for first-time filers. Check out if you qualify for Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA). To learn more about this program and to see if you might qualify watch this video.

    • Before filing your taxes, learn about the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), which can get you a refund even if you didn’t pay any taxes!  It is intended to give individuals and families who qualify a financial boost. The amount of the refund depends on your income and number of dependents.
    • A lot of non-profit agencies, some of which are in Massachusetts offer free tax preparation to individuals and families, especially to help them access the EITC. If you need help filing your taxes, or think you might be eligible for a bigger refund from the EITC, contact one today!
